Neal AllarNeal Allar specializes in modern French and francophone poetry, postcolonial theory, and literary theory. His current book project explores the relationship between the poetry of the French avant-garde and the francophone Caribbean, with particular reference to the Martinican writer Édouard Glissant. This project is part of a broader interest in how francophone poets prompt us to reread and restructure the modern French poetry canon. His articles have appeared in The Journal of French and Francophone Philosophy and Parade sauvage, and his next article is forthcoming in Nineteenth-Century French Studies. He received the 2015 Naomi Schor Memorial Award from the Nineteenth-Century French Studies Association.
