Heath Pearson is a fellow in the Society of Fellows at University of Michigan. His current manuscript, “The Carceral Outside,” traces the history of land in a New Jersey prison town to show its productive capacities in reproducing a racialized division of labor. His most recent academic article, “After the Riot,” explores how police departments use cash to appease activist demands for justice. His most recent collaborative project is with VICE Media: Weediquette, Season 2, Episode 7, ‘Search & Seizure.’ He is a collective editor for Abolition: A Journal of Insurgent Politics, and he is the book review editor for Current Anthropology. He also spends a great deal of time listening to music.
